A Brief History of Ferguson Tractors
Harry Ferguson's engineering legacy is hard to overstate. The three-point hitch system he developed - and eventually licensed to Ford, then fought for in a landmark legal case - became the universal standard for tractor implement attachment. Every tractor with a three-point hitch today traces that design back to Ferguson.
The TE20 was built at the Standard Motor Company's Banner Lane factory in Coventry. Early models ran Continental petrol and TVO (tractor vaporising oil) engines. The TEF20 brought diesel power with a Perkins P3 unit. By the time the FE35 arrived in 1956, the basic engineering was well understood - which is why so many survive in working condition today.
